Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday organisational life. Alongside its opportunities, organisations must consider what information is being shared, where it is stored and how it may be used. Cyber-security and data privacy can no longer be left solely to IT providers or technically minded staff. A cyber-attack, privacy breach or loss of sensitive information can disrupt services and seriously damage community trust.

ANCAD’s upcoming LiiFT Aotearoa Governance Matters session will help board members and organisational leaders understand common cyber-security risks, their responsibilities for protecting personal information, and practical steps they can take. These include using multi-factor authentication, controlling access to sensitive information, updating software, backing up data, establishing clear AI policies, and helping staff and volunteers recognise potential threats. Governors do not need to become technical experts. They do, however, need to ask the right questions, understand their organisation’s exposure and ensure appropriate protections are in place. Essential First Aid: practical skills for emergencies

Knowing what to do during the first few minutes of an emergency can make a crucial difference. ANCAD’s LiiFT upcoming four-hour Essential First Aid workshop provides practical additional training for workplaces and community organisations wanting more staff and volunteers to respond confidently when something goes wrong. The course covers compression-only CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators, choking rescue techniques, and responses to medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, seizures and diabetic emergencies. Participants will also learn how to respond to burns, allergic reactions, poisoning, concussion and broken bones. This concise course complements an organisation’s arrangements for meeting its workplace first-aid responsibilities and is not intended to replace any required accredited training.
