What a season. Between July and August, our community planted nearly 1,000 native trees across our local reserves, and every single one matters. Highlights included our Matariki Mauri Whenua celebration in Sunnynook, tree planting with the long-standing student volunteers from Duke Institute of Studies (DIOS), a session with our dedicated Lyford Reserve Stream Care group, and the ever-enthusiastic Rangatahi Restore crew. This is what community conservation looks like and it's something to be genuinely proud of.

Volunteer Spotlight: Philip Moll and team

Behind the scenes, incredible mahi is happening in our neighbourhoods year-round. Philip Moll and his team of volunteers regularly monitor and bait in their local area, giving our coastal and terrestrial birds a fighting chance against introduced predators. August was a particularly big month for them as part of our Predator Pulse – an intensive period of targeted baiting timed around breeding cycles and food scarcity. Thank you, Philip and team.
