The best bits of Chopper
If you like your stand-up comedy with a bit of bite, and your life advice to be straight up with some spicy expletives, then you can’t miss seeing Heath Franklin as his famous alter ego, Chopper, when he comes to the Bruce Mason Centre this month. The show Gold is a celebration of 20 years of the best bits of Chopper.

Art at high speed
Art Battle is the world’s biggest live painting competition, where 12 artists battle it out, and the audience determines the winner. All artwork will go up for sale at a silent auction afterwards, so you could go home with something beautiful at a great price. There are also spot prizes and giveaways. It’s free to attend, but register first so you can vote and bid.

Looking after our best friends
Come and meet The Dog Rescue Project at Smales Farm Market on Mother's Day. They’re an Auckland dog rescue that not only rehabilitates and rehomes dogs, but also works with owners of neglected dogs, providing them with the knowledge and tools to give their dogs good homes and good lives.

The craftiest market
Recently appearing on Urban List’s list of the craftiest markets in Auckland is our own Long Bay Village Market, held on the fourth Sunday of each month. The market takes place in the village piazza next to New World and across Glenvar Ridge Road onto the green field. A vibrant array of arts, crafts, fashion, jewellery and homewares will greet you, as well as food stalls and treats.
